RedSox @ Detroit

Frances and I visited our dearest friends, Annette and Ralph Stento, in Detroit. We visited The Henry Ford and attended the second game of the 2012 season for the RedSox at Detroit. Got to say that we had a great time at The Henry Ford. Excellent museum of Americana….. They also have a tour of the Rouge. The Rouge is the factory Henry Ford built which at one time employed 100,000 people. Today it has a state of the art plant that manufactures Ford F-150 trucks. It is amazing how those trucks are being put together. Frances found the perfect color car for her:

The next day we attended the baseball game at Comerica Park for the second game of the season for the Boston RedSox.

@Comerica Park

This was a very painful game to watch. As a team, the RedSox did not show up to play and I was surrounded by Tiger fans! We were seated on the sixth row next to the Tigers dugout. Excellent seats thanks to the efforts of the Stentos to get us tickets. But, there was no reason to cheer on my team as they stunk! We lost 0-10. On the other hand, the Tigers are poised to have a great season.

Outside the miserable loss in the baseball game, we had a great time and were very happy to spend time with our friends in a new place.

Boston RedSox

I got an opportunity to get tickets for a RedSox/Yankees game at Fenway Park. I was able to get tickets for the April 7th game. Lackey v. Petite. This is one of those “bucket lists” items that I could not let go by, so we got airline tickets and hotel room for a mid-week trip to Boston. Frances and I went and had a great time. We arrived on April 6th and our friend Doreen picked us up at the airport. We spent some time with her before heading for dinner to Legal Seafoods. After dinner we went to the bar at the Marriott hotel at the Prudential Center, where they have a giant screen to watch that nights game as well as many HD screens over the bar (see pics below).

On the day of the game, we met with Steven and Elaine Mooreman for lunch at the North End. Enjoyed some great Italian food and the company was great. Then as members of RedSox Nations, we were able to get into Fenway at 4PM to watch batting practice from the Monster seats. What a great view! From the monster seat we moved over to the center field seating area and watched some of the players catch fly balls from there. We then grab some grub for dinner at the park and enjoyed the game, which we lost in extra innings, but I did not mind so much, since it was only the 3rd game of the season. Did I mentioned that it was 85 degrees that day! in Boston! Weird…..
